Program Detail

Our driver and local guide will pick you up from your hotel around 8:30am and head to Mahamuni Pagoda. Which  is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Myanmar. The Buddha was encrusted with gold leaves and only men are permitted to go up to the golden Buddha to put gold leaf on it. Please wear appropriately if you want to enter the temple. Next, we will visit to local artisan’s workshop of gold leaf making, wood-carving making (furniture and other decorative materials) and Kalaga tapestries, one of Myanmar arts and crafts that mainly originated in Mandalay and famous souvenir. From the workshop, we proceed to Zaycho Market, one of the oldest and largest market in Myanmar. We will spend some time walking around the market and you can take this fantastic opportunity to capture some colourful photos of Burmese people life style. Then take a short break for lunch After lunch, we will visit the magnificent complex of Royal Palace with impressive crowning wooden pavilion and consists of many buildings. Then, we continue to Shwenandaw Monastery, one of the finest wooden monastery building in the century. Spend some time and look at the exterior carved walls and you will notice no two images are the same. We then move on to Atumashi Monastery situated next to Shwenandaw Monastery followed by Kuthodaw Pagoda, the World’s Largest Book (hundreds of shrines housing inscribed marble slabs in each structure). Admire the building paintings and designs while you walk around this pagoda. To conclude the tour, we will go up the top of Mandalay Hill, a vantage point for panoramic view of the city and spectacular sunset views. Tour ends at around 18:00 pm and our driver will transfer you back to your hotel after a wonderful day.

Mandalay-Mingun-Ava-Amarapura-Mandalay by boat and car                                              

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the jetty to take a ferry boat to Mingun, 11 km upriver from Mandalay on the western bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. After taking the boat trip for about 45 minutes, you can walk and start your tour includes the Mingun Pagoda, unfinished pagoda which might have been the biggest pagoda in the history of Buddhism, Mingun bell, the world largest ringing bell, and Myatheindan Pagoda. Then,stream down to Ava and lunch is arranged on boat . Upon arrival at Ava the former Royal Capital of INWA (AVA)  Visits by horse-drawn carriage include NanMyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building nicknamed “the leaning tower of Ava” MahaAung Myay Bone Zan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and Bagayar Monastery, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts. Depart this morning from Mandalay on a scenic two-hour drive to the former British hill station of Maymyo, now officially called Pyin Oo Lwin.  The town is located on a plateau 1000m above sea level and renowned for its cooler temperatures and lush foliage. Many reminders of the colonial era are still present in Pyin Oo Lwin, including brick and timber houses with British names and the Botanical Gardens to the south of town. Visit the local market in the center of the town near the clock tower where a colorful array of items are for sale including locally-produced jams and fruit wines. This afternoon, enjoy a traditional horse and carriage ride through the town to see the historical houses.  Your horse and carriage will drop you off at the 175-hectare Botanical Gardens where you can take a relaxing walk though the beautifully-landscaped gardens. Then enjoy the lunch at local restaurant . then then venture out to visit the Peik Khyin Myaung Caves, caves almost as old as the land itself before driving down to Mandalay .Return to Mandalay in the late afternoon.
