The Thadingyunt Festival celebrated in the big cities like Mandalay and Yangon are more colorful but you can also witness quieter versions in small villages, as the entire country celebrates.

2. Thingyan Water Festival

We , Burmese People annually hold Water Festival  during Myanmar New Year from 13-16 April every year . So that is another major Buddhist celebration in the country. Thingyan means “ Changing over “ in local language and throwing water at each other to cleanse the soul from sins and demerit done in the past .it is  easy to join in the fun –you can wander around the city to enjoy mutual water throwing festival . 3. Pagoda Festivals
Burmese people never fail to celebrate the pagoda festival of all famous pagodas in different places of the city of Myanmar.Some of these celebrations continue for more than 20 days, and pilgrims from all over the country never fail to travel to enjoy one of the pagoda festival that they enjoy most .There are two interesting pagoda festivals that we all love to enjoy . These are Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival in Inle and Ananda Pagoda Festival in Bagan .
  • Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival
Burma Photo Tours The people living on the lake annually hold  Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival for a total of 18 days. It is one of the most famous festivals in Myanmar. Both locals and foreign visitors come to visit this traditional festival in Inle Lake, Shan State . We celebrate The festival  with the dates according to the Lunar Calendar of Myanmar. It begins on the first Waxing Moon day of Thadingyut and ends a couple of days after the Full Moon . At that time a large boat with a Golden Hintha (Hamsa) Bird creation is built. The Buddha Images tour around the Inle Lake from village to  village taking the whole 18 days on the way. During the festival,Buddhist people from the lake move only four Buddha Images onto the Royal Barge. One Buddha images out of five remains at the temple .  Several boats moving by leg-rowers of inle lake draw the decorated royal barge . The royal barge move from village to village along the shores of the lake in clockwise direction , and the four images reside at the main monastery in each village for the night. The high point of the festival is on the day when the images arrive at the main town of Nyaung Shwe . On that day  most pilgrims from the surrounding region come to pay their respects and veneration by boats.
  • Ananda Pagoda Festival
Burma Photo Tours The Ananda Pagoda Festival is one of the most famous pagoda festivals in Bagan. It’s a week-long festival that is held during the month of Pyahto (December to January). The villagers living near and far from Bagan come to the festival in traditional bullock carts  . What’s more all village visitors made camps for the whole duration of the festival. Entertainment includes musical amusement, dancing, singing, theatre and stand-up comedy. There will be a sea of local vendors/shops selling everything from traditional food to agricultural tools and souvenirs. During the festival, 1000 monks perform continuous chanting of scriptures for 72 hours. Thousands of villagers from miles around set up encampments around the temple. The most important day of festival is the Full Moon Day of Pyatho as the dawn breaks on the Fullmoon Day of Pyatho the pilgrims are up and ready with their donations. The monks make their way between the donors lined up on both sides . And then all donors  all reverently place their donations in the monk’s hands.
